Primary Health Care for the Entire Family
Our mission is to provide a comprehensive array of health care services to the community regardless of ability to pay. Through these services, we strive to meet individual and family needs, promote independence and strengthen support systems. Our emphasis is to maintain the highest quality of life for the individual and family, as well as for the community.

Whether you are a newborn, an elder or anyone in between, Northwest Health Center is able to provide primary care services to you. The Health Center employs family practice physicians and family nurse practitioners to meet the health care needs of the entire family. The staff cares for all types of health issues, whether it is routine exams or an episode of illness (ranging from the common cold to more serious medical problems).
Northwest Health Center is accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO).
Services Primary Care
The Health Center provides complete health services for the entire family. On-site physicians and family nurse practitioners are on staff..
Dental Services
Comprehensive dental services including cleanings, restorative care, extractions, root canals, crowns and dentures are available in our new state-of-the-art facility.
Gynecological Care
Comprehensive services provided for women include routine gynecological exams, premarital exams (for both women and men), family planning, pregnancy testing and screening for sexually transmitted diseases, and other health education. Services are provided by our family practice staff and an OB-GYN physician.
Obstetrics and Prenatal Care
Through an agreement with Thundermist Health Associates, routine prenatal care, including prepared childbirth education classes are provided. In addition, we provide comprehensive services to women throughout pregnancy and delivery including post partum care. Services are provided at Northwest by a board certified OB-GYN and a certified nurse midwife.
Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services
Mental health professionals are available on site to provide couseling and related services to all family members.
Laboratory
A full-service laboratory is available Monday through Friday 7:30AM - 4:30PM and Saturdays from 8:30AM - 12:00 Noon. The lab closes from 1:00 - 2:00PM. No appointments are required.
School Physicals
The Health Center provides physicals necessary for school or for sports teams. Appointments are required.
Radiology
On-site x-ray, ultrasound, mammography and bone density services are provided Monday through Friday, 9:00AM - 5:00PM and on Saturdays, 9:00AM - 12:00 Noon.
Case Management and Eligibility
We have a case manager on staff who can provide assistance to patients in accessing needed health or social services or enrolling in various financial assistance programs.

Payments
Northwest is a participating provider of Blue Cross of RI, Blue Chip, United Healthcare, Medicare, Medical Assistance, Neighborhood Health Plan of Rhode Island, Aetna, Healthmate, and certain others. In addition, we have a sliding fee scale that is based on income and family size.
